PEKI TRADITIONAL AUTHORITIES DENY ENDORSING NANA AKUFFO ADDO
The Chief of Avetile Peki and the Adontenhene of Peki Traditional Area in the South Dayi District of the Volta region, Togbe Ayim Mordey VI, has refuted claims that chiefs of Peki Traditional Area endorsed flagbearer of the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP),Nana Addo Dances Akuffo -Addo.
Recently, some media outlets published stories that some Chiefs of Peki have endorsed the presidential candidate of the NPP during his tour of the region.
But addressing a durbar at Peki Tsame to welcome the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah to the area, Torgbe Ayim Mordey VI posited that “no such thing happened hence the individual who concocted the story will be called and sanctioned.”
He said the chiefs who did that had no authorisation of the chiefs to make such endorsement, adding that his outfit is doing everything possible to punish those behind the concocted story which was aimed at lowering the credibility of the Chiefs in the eyes of Ghanaians.
"In fact, I wish to take this opportunity to let people understand that no Chief in Peki here endorsed Nana Akufo Addo. The individuals involved in hatching this idea to create confusion are going to be called and sanctioned for their misconduct. So I want to make you understand that there was no such endorsement by Peki chiefs,” the acting President of the Peki tradional area clarified.
The Chief of staff is in the Volta Region to canvass for votes for President Mahama’s re election. He had so far visited the Upper West and the Brong Ahafo regions.
In the Volta region, a region seen to be the strong hold of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Chief of Staff will meet the Chiefs and people of the region and talk to them to maintain President John Dramani Mahama for a second term.
