Sarkodie chokes in the middle of emotional tribute to Daasebre Gyamena

BET laureate Michael Owusu Addo (better known by his stage-name Sakodie) could simply not hold back tears during his special tribute to highlife legend Daasebre Gyamena at his on-going Rapperholic Concert at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The rapper performed a re-make of  Kokooko,  the 1999 classic which originally features  rapper-turned-pastor Lord Kenya. Daasebre Ahuofe Gyamena reportedly died of a heart attack back in July, and was reportedly working on a gospel album detailing his recent trials till his death.

The show has already seen performances from Efya, Joey B, Ras Kuuku, 2 Fingers, Article Wan, Nii Funny, and CJ Biggerman, Edem, the stars on his single Trumpet, Nigerian stars Runtown, Reeked Banks among others.

Rapperholic is also the name of Sarkodie (born Michael Owusu Addo)’s sophomore album, and he’s reportedly finalizing work on his fifth solo album “The Highest”, which comes out early next year.

Recipient of several local and international awards including the prestigious BET Best International Act: Africa in 2012, Sarkodie has released Makye (2009), Rapperholic (2012), Sarkology (2014), Mary (2015), as well as the joint album TMG with producer Jayso in 2013.
