‘You are an ingrate’ – PPP tells its defected parliamentary candidate
Progressive People’s Party has lashed out at one of its parliamentary candidate in the Ashanti Region, Grace Affram, who on Wednesday defected to the National Democratic Congress, describing her as ingrate.
Ms Affram, who was contesting on the ticket of the PPP in the Kwabre East Constituency announced her defection at a news conference citing corruption and breach of electoral laws by the PPP as reasons for her defection.
“The PPP wants us to take pictures of our voting as evidence, this is contrary to our electoral laws,” she stated.
But the Ashanti Regional Secretary of PPP, Bismark Tetteh has expressed surprised at the exit of Ms Affram, saying “We were extremely shocked regarding the decision she has taken.
At a news conference organised Thursday to address the allegations by Ms Affram, Mr Tetteh debunked the claims by their former candidate, and challenged her to provide evidence.
“She should give evidence to her claim that the Progressive People’s Party is corrupt… She has rather defected to a corrupt party,” he fumed.
Mr. Tetteh said as a policy, leadership of the party has agreed to empower the youth and women in leadership position.
“In the case of Grace Affram, the party paid her filing fees and provided her T-shirts and a motorbike for campaign,” he said, indicating that it is the PPP that is sponsoring her
According to the PPP, the former member of the party has been bought to denigrate the party.
