Ananse Foundation Refurbishes Sunyani Children's library
Ananse Fundation (AF), a non governmental organisation, on Saturday volunteered to paint the Sunyani Children's library.
The Library, which serves thousands of pupils in the Sunyani municipality, had been in bad shape for some years. It looked dirty while some part of the roof had damaged and needed to be fixed to save the scant materials in it.
Kweku Ananse Mansoh, the CEO of the foundation, some told journalists that it was "a benchmark midyear project" for the foundation which he and a few friends who support him with funds slated for every republic day as a way of given back to the society.
He said the painting of libraries, which started last year at the Bibiani Community Library in the Western Region, was to make the facility attractive and also imbibe reading habits in school- going kids.
The CEO bemoaned the dying out of volunteerism in the country and underscored the need for Ghanaians to develop love for community work which tackles problems the government has not solved.
"We should not wait for government to solve problems we can help solve by ourselves. I am from Bibiani, my friends with me here traveled from different parts of the country to come and get this work done", Mr Mansoh added.
Isaac Armah, the librarian in charge of the facility, commended the foundation for their kindness and appealed to the community and other philanthropists to assist them with furniture and books.
